' The manager who only communicates or only conceives never gets anything done, while the manager who only 'does' ends up doing it all alone'.
According to Henry Mintzberg, the roles of managers can be divided into three main types ;
(a) Creating interpersonal relationship
(b) Disseminating information
(c) decision-making
Henry Mintzberg further divided these three types into ten specific roles. To conclude, he isolated three major categories of roles -interpersonal, informational and decisional. Within these categories , he identified ten specific roles - figurehead, leader, liaison, monitor, disseminator, spokesperson, enterpreneur, disturbance handler, resource allocator and negotiator.
